Brabantia Bread Box
This bread box is exactly what I was looking for. It looks good on my kitchen counter, it opens easily, and it is much roomier than it appears. It holds two loaves of bread and still has room for a package of English Muffins. I expect to have it for many years.
Not bad for the price (compared to other sellers)
Other local sellers had this item for almost DOUBLE the price here on Amazon. However, the material that this is made of is VERY thin, definitely thinner than the metal a coffee can would be made of. The whole box kind of flexes as you hold the ends in your hands. As a result of this thin material my lid didnt line up perfectly when you closed it, so I grabbed the ends and twisted the box to bend things slightly so they aligned better. VERY thin and flimsy but very stylish. I really wish the metal was about DOUBLE the thickness; that way I would be certain that this box will be around for a LONG time.
Just what I was looking for!
This Bread Bin fit perfectly on my counter in the space I had wanted it to fit in...luckily. I had gone by the measurements in the description, and thought it would be a wee bit too big. Thankfully, it wasn't. It holds quite a lot of bread products. Right now I have a full loaf of bread, a package of hot dog rolls, and a package of bagels in it. Nothing is getting squished. I had purchased this bread box because of mice getting into my bread...which I used to keep in a drawer. Problem solved! No mice have been able to open it. :) It stays nice and clean looking with a simple wipe down, and it doesn't show finger prints. (I don't have small children, but I have teenagers, and they can be messy, also.)
